Wall Treatments
This was a plain ranch style vaulted ceiling living room. My clients wanted a more formal look. On the short side wall of the living room we planned a raised panel wall treatment featuring a mantle piece even though there was no fireplace.
On the opposite side of the same room, we had a different problem. The tall wall was 12 feet high and 20 feet long and was just a big blank wall. To bring perspective and utility to this large wall, we built book shelves in the same motif as the faux fireplace. The book cases were 8 feet high. To help balance the wall we added medallions matching the book shelf partitions below and added crown mold to the ceiling above. The book shelves become the doctors library, a very nice blend of form and function.
